A few months ago, gamers reported that the popular @StepBackRack participant in the Twitch community dubbed "Rack mt 2k22," stole hundreds of thousand dollars from Australian and New Zealand communities in an apparent investment scam. Another gamer, @Raangee, also participated in the scam.
YouTuber and streamer Tyceno was the first person to expose the scam, which convinced young gamers to invest thousands of dollars in the belief they could earn thousands. "I have good reason to believe @StepBackRack is the person behind an enormous illegal pyramid scheme, which was discovered in the NBA 2K community where more than $200,000 was stolen from vulnerable players who believed they could "flip" their money," Tyceno wrote.
But, it's still unclear what the exact circumstances were. Rack or Raangee were knowingly involved in the scam , or whether their handles were compromised. We tried numerous times to reach them, but without success.
Tyceno and others who are suspected victims talked to us about how "Rack" spoke via the voice chat feature to a number of gamers in the age group.
