After about two months of effort, (and over 40+ animation files) I'm finished with my Unreal Engine showcase.
I ran the gauntlet, so to speak, too many times to count, and this one is the one I landed that I thought looked coolest and most in sync.
I've learned a lot about making first person controllers, and UE5 in general as a result of this. I utilized several different state machines, blend spaces for more nuanced locomotion, Niagara particle effects, and even using animated textures for the phone screen.
Also, Engine interpolation is annoying as hell sometimes, but "beating" it makes the animations look so much better in game!
